Spoons and Pewterware

Our spoons and other pewterware are made in England by the family firm of A.E. Williams, which has been making pewter since 1779. Members of the family are Members of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers and Freemen of the City of London. Their lead-free pewterware is Hand Cast and Touchmarked. This is solid, well-made pewter, good for many years' use. It is not cheap, but is well-worth the price.

The spoons are reproductions of 15th and 16th century originals, except for the 'Acorn' spoon, which is a modern pattern modeled after old designs. Since the moulds are taken from antique originals, the spoons show the marks of time. (Spoons measure 15 to 17 cm in length; shipping weight 90 g each.)

Pewter is the ideal metal for drinking vessels since it does not taint the drink. The pewter tankard is the traditional vessel for beer, and pewter goblets enhance the taste of wine. The tankards we stock are lidded, and so are excellent for keeping the dust and insects out of your drink, indoors or out.
