0999 CHINESE TEA BRICK

What? you say. . . . Just what it sounds like. Chinese tea is sold to Mongolia and Tibet in this form. Black tea is steamed and then pressed in decorated molds. When the Mongolian or Tibetan nomad wants to drink tea, he simply scrapes a little tea off the block, adds boiling water (and usually - yuk - yak butter), and drinks. So, all you Mongols, how authentic are you? For those who just want an interesting curio, these bricks have a very interesting design molded on them. The front shows stars, a temple, and Chinese characters. The back is divided into sixteen rectangles, each with a knot design. The dimensions are 18½ x 24 x 2 cm. One of these would look handsome hanging on the kitchen wall, but lacquer it first to keep the moisture out. (Shipping weight 1125 g.)

The Wine of Islam

Attention all true coffee lovers. If you love the buzz and zing and savor of real coffee, and are not just one who drinks it because everyone at the office does, Turkish coffee is the drink for you. This is the original period way of brewing coffee, being made this way in the Middle East since the 16th century, and maybe earlier. It is quick and convenient, perfect for brewing authentically over a hibachi or even a campfire at tournaments and camping events.

1401 IBRIK

Brass coffee pot, tinned inside. This is the No. 4 size, because it will hold four of the tiny cups of liquid; but we would suggest doing only two cups at a time in it, because the coffee foams up when it boils. Made in Egypt. (Shipping weight 125 g)

1402 "BEDOUIN"-STYLE CUP

The tiny decorated cup appropriate. Sorry, we don't know why this style is known as "Bedouin"; they're actually made in China. (Shipping weight 65 g)

Vacuum-packed for freshness (once the package is opened, store in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator or, even better, in the freezer).
