The Death Sentence
by Suzanne M. Harker

Station 1
Way of the Cross
Jesus' death sentence was given and executed within hours. There was no appeal or time on death row. Jesus was convicted and condemned to death by His own people. He was not protected or defended; in fact He was left alone, by His friends. He was released to the Jews by Pilate who by his own word: "found no guilt in Him."

Jesus spoke only the truth. No one is honest enough with themselves to hear this truth in their hearts, not Pilate, the Jews, His Friends, or me. One can hear and live the truth. This truth is Love.

For Love, Christ dies. For Love, Christ lives in me. Christ is Love!

At Christ's Last Supper, He asks me to remember His undying Love. He also remembers. Jesus lives with me in my present moment in His eternal now!

Every time I am

Station 12
Way of the Cross
Christ is living this experience in and through and with me, transforming me into Love.

The dying is a transforming of all that was not of Christ to Love. The cross is a movement from what was to what is. The nails are grounding to what is birthing Love. The crown of thorns is a penetration to what is creating wisdom. The lance is piercing my heart with Love, His Love.

As I and Christ live in the present moment of the eternal now, I see and feel the skin ripping open and the blood pouring from Christ's hands and then from His feet. I see and feel the flesh splitting on His face. I see and feel the thorns penetrating through His head to rip open His face.

In the pain, I know it is Jesus who holds me in a loving embrace. It is not me who holds Him. Even now I can not love without Christ loving me first.
