A Bit of Humor

A Sunday School teacher asked her class, "Does anyone know what we mean by sins of omission?"
A small girl replied, "Aren't those the sins we should have committed, but didn't?

------------

A woman went to the Post Office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards. "What denomination?" Asked the clerk.
"Oh, good heavens! Have we come to this?" said the woman. "Well, give me 50 Protestant and 50 Catholic ones."

------------

A little boy, excited about his part in the Christmas play at school, came home and shouted, "I got a part in the Christmas play! I got a part in the Christmas play!"

"What part did you get?" asked his mother excitedly.

"I'm one of the three wise guys!"

-----------------------

Little Johnny was spending the weekend with his grandmother
after a particularly trying week in kindergarten. His grand-
mother decided to take him to the park on Saturday morning.
It had been snowing all night and everything was beautiful.

His grandmother remarked..."doesn't it look like an artist
painted this scenery? Did you know God painted this just for
you?"

Johnny said, "Yes, God did it and he did it left handed."

This confused his grandmother a bit, and she asked him "What
makes you say God did this with his left hand?"

"Well," said Johnny, "we learned at Sunday School last week
that Jesus sits on God's right hand!"

Storyteller and Early Childhood Consultant Rob Neves now has a web site (no longer online) with free samples of his some of his stories. We have features some of Rob's stories in previous issues of the Catholic Educators Newsletter. Rob offers a number of fascinating "Storytelling Events" for children and adults:

Story Telling Events for Children

Story Telling Visits

These interactive and entertaining presentations allow children to experience the story in a whole new way. Using a mixture of mime, drama and sound effects the stories come alive in a style that has been described as “guaranteed to make kids laugh”.

Kidspeak: Effective Communication Strategies Through Story Telling

A series of confidence building and communication development, group activities developed to initiate, promote and maintain a practical communication strategy within a group of young children.

The Story Teller's Writing Style

Often children who struggle to write, lose their story in a sea of grammar and spelling. Using a story teller's approach to content development can be a liberating catalyst for creation.

Telling the Story and Public Speaking

This practical workshop focuses on strategies helping children tell the story. We experiment with voice, sound, expression, body language and the development of a story telling style. These are then used to explore presentation skills and the use of story in Public Speaking.

Story Telling Events for Adults

Story Telling in Early Literacy

The promotion of early literacy through story telling allows children the freedom to develop ideas, concepts and discover the value of their own voice. Learning how we can introduce reading and writing as natural complements to their communication strategies allows us to promote emergent literacy through the child centered framework of story telling.

Telling the Story

This practical workshop focuses on strategies for telling the story to young children. We experiment with voice, sound, expression, body language and the development of a story telling style.
